Creating and Using Figurative Language

This resource includes visuals and graphic organizers to help guide students through the process of understanding various figurative language structures and using those structures to create complex written or verbal descriptions.

Pair the vibrant, colorful, and functional images with a semantic map to generate adjectives and other related features; then, use the worksheets and visuals to help students use those descriptors to create four different types of figurative language: similes, metaphors, personification, and onomatopoeia.
